The focus on personalities however feeds America's dirty habit of relating to people and not to governments. It is governments that make wars and treaties and alliances and laws. For too long the U.S. has backed leaders we deem friendly over their own constituents. The world will be safer for Democracy when the U.S. starts respecting voters, in Pakistan as much as here at home.Barry Levine
